Jatropha Development Planning in Haiti (Chemonics International)

Chemonics International seeks an international development firm with extensive experience working with Jatropha curcas for the USAID-funded Watershed Initiative for National Natural Environmental Resources (WINNER) project in Haiti. The selected firm will carry out a 15-day assignment, to begin on or about August 15. The vision of the five-year WINNER project is for the people living within targeted watersheds to have improved livelihoods, have reduced threat from flooding, and be invested in sustainable economic growth and environmental protection. A key WINNER activity is to promote continuous reforestation at a large scale. To this end, project will help promote large-scale Jatropha plantation and processing, using the best techniques and varieties for specified areas in Haiti. The selected firm will field a team of two high-level consultants to Haiti: an agronomist specialized in Jatropha research and plantation, and an operation specialist with a minimum of seven years of farmer organization experience.
