The project aims to improve water supply and quality as well as rural sanitation in Bangladesh by minimizing pathogens, arsenic and other pollutants.
The project is comprised of the following components:
Component 1: Piped Rural Water Supply Schemes
Component 2: Non-piped Rural Water Supply Schemes
Component 3: Rural Sanitation
Component 4: Capacity Building and Project Management
The project appraisal completion is scheduled on 15 May 2011. The project is expected to go the Board for approval on 25 August 2011.
The World Bank estimates the total project cost at US$ 88.3 million.

The Board Approval took place on 22 March 2012.
The project is expected to become effective on 18 June 2012 and is estimated to be completed by 30 June 2017.
