The primary objective of the Border/Strategic Cities Project in Tanzania is to increase the access to urban infrastructures and services and at the same time to support the capacity strengthening of urban LGAs in its management and fiscal performance.

After the project appraisal, the project will only have three components, retaining the first two, and integrating the last two components.

The project is expected to go to the Board for approval on 27 May 2010. The total cost of the project is now estimated at US$ 175.5 million.
