Chemonics International seeks a deputy chief of party for the USAID-funded Behavioral and Social Change Communication Program in Zambia. The program aims to develop sustainable human and institutional capacity for information, education, and communication/behavior change communication (IEC/BCC) across the areas of HIV/AIDS; malaria; family planning and reproductive health; and maternal, newborn, and child health. Responsibilities include: oversee implementation of program activities at the national level and work in close partnership with the Zambian government and other partners to ensure effective implementation of IEC/BCC activities at the district and community levels. The position will be based in Lusaka.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health or related field
- Minimum eight years of relevant experience in implementing and managing large-scale health programs within developing countries
- Minimum five years of experience managing a large, complex public health or international development project
- Experience implementing large-scale IEC/BCC programs (including gender sensitivity, youth outreach, and stigma reduction) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with USAID and U.S. government regulations
- Experience working with the Zambian Ministry of Health and good working knowledge of local labor laws
- Familiarity with capacity building and IEC/BCC related to HIV/AIDS; malaria; family planning; reproductive health; and maternal, newborn, and child health
- Ability to coordinate activities with officials from the host-country government, U.S. government, NGOs, and other agencies
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing effective partnerships with private sector entities
- Strong oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, supervisory, and team-building skills
- Ability to travel extensively to program locations within Zambia
