The Core Banking Project Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, execution, supervision, and control of all steps of the Core Banking project, including all deliverables for each step, organizing all the necessary components for the success of the projects in coordination with the executive committee, affiliate and regional management and to support, under the supervision of the Regional Director, any IT topic related to the affiliates of FINCA International in the region. In particular the Core Banking Project Manager will be responsible for:
- developing, documenting and communicating all plans, methodology of the implementation of relevant projects in the region,
- coordinating with the Regional IT Manager the planification and the implementation of all projects in the region,
- managing all human and business resources necessary for the completion of all phases of the project,
- supervising the timing of all tasks, critical path, reevaluating the allocated times depending on the progress of the project
- ensuring the stewardship of economic resources of the project: direct costs, opportunity cost and cash disbursements necessary to the implementation of the project
- ensuring that the project is completed with success, according to its complexity, goals, in particular level of quality, size, requirements and deliverables,
- managing the risks of the project,
- providing a written report about the lessons learnt after the completion of the project, this report will offer a global vision for future internal clients in particular and FINCA in general,
- documenting and communicating all best practices of projects in the region through the relevant regional managers in each area.
The Core Banking Project Manager will inform regularly and on a timely manner the VP and Regional Director and Regional IT Manager on the status of the project under his/her supervision. The Core Banking Project Manager will support any additional projects/tasks related to FINCA affiliates, vendors, and clients of FINCA International, at the discretion of the VP and Regional Director.
Ideal profile:
- 3 years minimum of experience in IT Project Management,
- 3 years minimum of experience in financial services, microfinance or banking,
- Project management certification preferred,
- Experience of banking system preferred,
- MBA or microfinance studies are a plus,
- Knowledge of iFlex desirable,
- General knowledge of financial regulations in Central America, Ecuador, and Mexico,
- Successful past experience in managing multidisciplinary teams,
- Experience in analysis of operational processes required,
- Excellent technical writing skills and documentation,
- Excellent financial risk management,
- Ability to find technical solutions to business needs,
- Strong leadership skills, demonstrated ability to manage teams and to conduct change, sense of teamwork, assertiveness,
- Stellar oral and written communication skills, with both technical and business audiences,
- Excellent interpersonal skills,
- Strong negotiation skills,
- Self-starter, flexibility, and sense of initiative,
- Excellent problem solving skills,
- Experience working under pressure,
- Strong commitment to FINCA’s social mission,
- High level of mobility within the Latin America and the Caribbean, willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time,
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
