Gender and Investment Climate Reform Specialists

Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm with offices in Washington, DC, New York and overseas.  Banyan Global is seeking Senior level specialists on a Short-Term consulting basis to undertake a project involving a) assessment of the gender dimensions of investment climate reform processes in developing and transitional economies and b) design of a strategy to ensure gender integration and mainstreaming in business enabling environment support initiatives.   

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include:

• -Training project stakeholders/counterparts on the gender dimensions of investment climate reform and developing related training materials
• -Conducting country or regional assessments of the implications of investment climate reform on women entrepreneurs - addressing legal, regulatory and administrative factors
• -Design a strategy - including specific recommendations - for ensuring gender equity in investment climate reform and facilitating targeted support for women entrepreneurs in business enabling environment support initiatives
• -Support adoption of recommendations by donors, governments, and private sector stakeholders
• -Provide reporting and training as appropriate

Qualifications

EITHER:

• -Advanced degree in law or public policy and experience analyzing and/or designing laws and regulations related to the business enabling environment, with a focus on the impact of the business enabling environment on women-owned businesses

OR:

• -Advanced degree in economics or business and experience facilitating or supporting investment - or investment climate reform - in emerging or transitional economies

AND:

• -10-15 years of experience in gender mainstreaming related to investment climate work
• -Extensive comparative research experience with methodologies related to the gender implications of investment and investment climate reform, ideally with and cross-regional experience
• -Experience establishing and managing relationships with governments, stakeholders and business community in emerging markets
• -Demonstrated track record of sustained and tangible results
• -Additional language skills is a plus
