Description
The Social Impact Advisor position is based in San Ramon, California and is a one year contract position with the possibility of extension.
Critical areas of focus are:
1. Basic Human Needs: Food security, shelter, health and sanitation.
2. Education & Training: School-based (K-12) programs, work-based career/technical programs and training/professional development for educators.
3. Business Development: Services for entrepreneurs, business incubators, sector development support and micro credit programs.
Role and Responsibilities:
• As a part of the Corporate policy team, help develop and disseminate the CE strategy and vision and optimize involvement of all Policy Govt and Public Affairs (PGPA) disciplines and other internal stakeholders as appropriate in CE program execution.
• Assist CE Advisors group in the planning and preparation of social impact assessments and social impact management plans for capital projects.
• Act as in-house researcher to support CE programs and trainings including CE toolkit, database, tracking tools, social impact assessment.
• Support Community Engagement (CE) Advisors group to assist business units in the planning, implementation and evaluation of their CE programs. Assist in collection, analysis and dissemination of best practices and lessons learned among field business units and Corporation.
• Provide consultation and share knowledge on sustainable livelihoods assessments, participatory needs assessment, social impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, economic growth, small and medium enterprise development, health, education, project design, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Help coordinate the establishment and ongoing development of the Community of Practice Network on community engagement and social impacts among Corporation's operations worldwide.
• Participate as Company's representative with multilateral organizations, bilateral donors, local and international Non Government Organizations and other corporate entities. Develop external organization contacts and act as liaison for Company.
• Display ability to work independently and to manage significant volumes of work. Provide support to other CE team members as required.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience with economic growth and/or community development programs in developing and transitional countries.
- Significant experience in the design of capacity building programs in at least one or more of Community Engagement's critical areas of focus: food security, health, shelter, education and training, and business development.
- Superior written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience working with an international NGO, consulting firm or donor agency.
- Knowledgeable in CSR practices and public-private partnerships.
- Ability and comfort working in a corporate setting.
- Masters degree level education or higher in relevant area of study.
