Project Summary

For the next five years, the Millennium Challenge Corporation plans to invest a total of US$698 million for infrastructure development projects in several cities and municipalities in Tanzania. Information gathered by the Development Executive Group indicates that the planned initiatives may lead to opportunities in road and run-way construction, water systems development, and power supply and distribution.

UPDATE, 17 September 2008: The compact was signed in 17 February 2008.

UPDATE, 17 August 2009: Various opportunities have already resulted from the compact. The most recent one is for data collection for an energy project.

UPDATE, 28 October 2009: MCC has released a tender for the Zanzibar Interconnector project.

UPDATE, 8 January 2010: MCC has published a general procurement notice for consultancy services, goods and works in the transport and energy sectors.

UPDATE, 29 January 2010: MCC has announced a specific procurement notice for civil works for the extension of the Lower Ruvu Water Treatment Plant in Tanzania.

UPDATE, 2 February 2010: MCC has published a tender for project management consultancy services for the transport sector.

UPDATE, 15 February 2010: MCC has released three tender notices for submarine cable works, distribution substations, and the review of TANESCO’s policies.

UPDATE, 16 February 2010: MCC has announced a tender for civil works for the rehabilitation of the Morogo water supply system.

UPDATE, 23 February 2010: MCC has just released a tender for the design review of the Mafia Island airport and consultancy services for the energy sector.
