Project Summary

The European Union, through Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner, granted EUR 14 million (US$ 20 million) to support rural development projects under the new Multiannual Indicative Program (2007-2010) for Mongolia. Business opportunities may involve activities to help manage pastoral risks, establish micro-finance services, and create a fund for local initiatives.

UPDATE, 10 March 2009: According to Lea Vuori, part of the funding is now supporting an ongoing project managed by the World Bank.
