Job Description

PSI seeks highly skilled applicants for the position of Senior Accountant, Financial Operations to provide support to PSI’s global mission.  This full-time position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Manager of Financial Operations. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  •    Foreign entity financials analysis and validation
  •    Review monthly inventory reconciliation workpapers and approve COGS journal entries
  •    Review quarterly severance liability workpapers and approve accrual journal entries  
  •    Review monthly QuickBooks imports into Lawson, approve adjustments and reconcile error suspense accounts
  •    Review semi-annual fixed asset physical counts and approve entries for acquisitions and disposals
  •    Review quarterly sales receivable work papers and approve accrual journal entries
  •    Review quarterly capital lease workpapers and approve journal entries
  •    Reconcile quarterly statements of intercompany accounts (due to / due from subsidiaries)
  •    Maintain audit documentation files and support audit samples provided to internal and external auditors
  • Analyze key balance sheet accounts  and approve adjusting journal entries
  • Review currency rate tables for accuracy and completeness
  • Support other departments with advanced queries of accounting data in Lawson and analysis of the same in Access and Excel
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

 

Organization Description
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience, CPA highly preferable;
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in financial reporting, non-profit environment or public accounting;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge; and fluent in French and/or Spanish to serve as accounting support for our French and Spanish speaking platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency with large databases, including SQL and Microsoft Access
  • Demonstrated expertise with advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Prior experience training and developing others is strongly preferred
