Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

 

New Business Development

  • Identify trends in the PFM and public sector governance market
  • Help strategise winning approaches to bid opportunities
  • Lead relationship building and management with key clients, partners and consultants
  • Track and follow up on business intelligence leading up to bid opportunities
  • Organise and lead reconnaissance efforts in target countries
  • Act as proposal manager
  • Serve as lead writer for winning proposals in the governance sector
  • Follow and propose improvements to procedures and processes for business development activities that will contribute to grow DAI’s business in line with business strategies and plans, whilst retaining an agile and flexible organisation
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain professional networks and participate in professional organisations
  • As required, support Proposal Champions in the development of Business Acquisition Plans and make recommendations for go/no go decisions
  • Actively seek and act upon client feedback

 

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Specific experience in the area of PFM and public sector governance
  • Strong understanding and contacts in PFM and public sector governance policy and best practice
  • Proven ability to win and manage DFID and/or other donor contracts
  • Solid understanding of the proposal development process, project management systems and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and motivation skills with a proven ability to motivate and co-ordinate multiple stakeholders, including senior level experts and directors
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to lead complex processes in a non-hierarchical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a rapidly changing environment
  • Action oriented with strong intellectual agility and ability
  • Ability to learn quickly and to apply results oriented problem solving methods
  • Proven experience providing consulting services, managing international development projects, and writing winning proposals is required
  • Strong foreign language skills in Arabic, French or Portuguese is highly desirable
  • Experience working with DFID, EU and other major European donors preferred

 

Education:

  • Masters degree in economics and/or accounting, with a minimum of 5-7 years progressively responsible work experience in PFM and public sector governance.
