Balkan Trust for Democracy

The Balkan Trust for Democracy (BTD) supports the strengthening of democratic institutions in Southeastern Europe and promotes cross-border cooperation and region-wide political, social, and economic development

Balkan Trust for Democracy

The Balkan Trust operates through two principal programs; Linking Citizens with Government, by giving grants to local and national organizations working to improve citizen engagement with government, as well as by governmental communication with citizens, monitoring government performance, and improving citizens’ understanding of their rights and responsibilities; and Cooperation and Collaboration, by supporting intra-national and trans-Balkan collaboration among governments, NGOs, civic initiatives, and other institutions working to improve understanding and cooperation throughout the region.
