The USAID Building Low Emission Alternatives to Develop Economic Resilience and Sustainability (B-LEADERS) Project, awarded to Engility in January 2014, is designed to contribute to the agency’s objective of increasing climate change resilience and mitigation. B-LEADERS will also complement the ultimate goal of transformative economic growth with a primary focus on sustainable management of resources and reduction of emissions.
This project builds on the successful work of the USAID Climate Change and Clean Energy Project (CEnergy), also implemented by Engility. B-LEADERS’s goal is to strengthen the capacity of the Philippine government and its key partners to plan, design, and implement Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) contributing to the formulation of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in the energy and transport sectors, and to a certain extent, the forestry/land use sector. To achieve this goal, the project is being implemented under two complementary task:
