Developing the Microfinance Movement for Smallholder Farmers

A partnership to help smallholder farmer households in Africa double their income per acre.

Developing the Microfinance Movement for Smallholder Farmers

The MasterCard Foundation has partnered with One Acre Fund to expand access to financial services and training for smallholder farmers in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi. This partnership will provide professional support to further strengthen One Acre Fund’s management information and evaluation systems. New staff will be dedicated to monitoring and evaluation to ensure quality of services is maintained as the program expands to serve more people. One Acre Fund will also expand its operations, identify and train clients from financially excluded households, and document and share best practices across the three countries. Finally, One Acre Fund and the MasterCard Foundation will help accelerate a global movement of microfinance and other financial institutions into the field of rural agriculture finance through knowledge dissemination, relationship building, and related activities.
