Innovative Composting Techniques in Brazil

The PPP aims to improve waste management in Brazil's north-eastern regions, which suffer from poor standards of living and hygiene. GIZ and SNB Technologies will construct a plant for in-vitro composting that will allow for more appropriate disposal of domestic mix wastes.

Innovative Composting Techniques

Many municipalities in Brazil's less-developed north-eastern regions suffer from a waste management problem. To address this issue, the partnership brings together the expertise of GIZ and German company SNB Technologies GmbH that developed an innovative in-situ composting procedure that allows for a more efficient composting procedure. A pilot plant was launched in the municipality of Campo do Brito. Dissemination activities aim to raise awareness of in-situ composting in Brazil allowing for the technology to spread to other locations.
