Most at Risk Populations (MARPs) Tete - Project Carvão de Moatize Consortium

The Most At Risk Populations project implemented in Tete Province by the International Centre for Reproductive Health, Mozambique (ICRH-M), aims at improving the sexual and reproductive health seeking behaviour of female sex workers and at increasing their access to quality sexual and reproductive health services through research, capacity building and technical assistance for service implementation.

USAID is patrtnering with private sector to support the company Vale in the provision of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, testing and counseling and follow-up care for its employees, their families, as well as the communities in which they live. Objectives include:

    • Improved access to reproductive health services (including HIV and AIDS) for female sex workers (FSWs) and their clients.
    • Increased availability of accurate and tailored reproductive health information for FSWs and their clients.
    • An enabling environment created for FSWs and their clients to sustain the behavior change and uptake of health services.
    • Management capacity of local partners, government and non-government organizations.
