Program to Expand Educational and Leadership Opportunities for Youth in the West Bank

The five-year, USAID-funded program builds on and expands USAID-supported Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) to create opportunities with and for youth, for active youth learning and innovation in the West Bank.

Partnerships with Youth Project (PwY) & Supporting Youth Development and Resource Centers (YDRCS)

The Partnerships with Youth (PwY) Program expands educational and leadership opportunities for youth age 14-29 throughout the West Bank by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learning. The five-year, USAID-funded program builds on and expands USAID-supported Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) to create opportunities with and for youth, for active youth learning and innovation in the West Bank. PWY improves the organizational capacity of six existing YDRCs in Al Bireh, Hebron, Jenin, Jericho, Nablus, and Qalqilya, and will establish five new YDRCs. IREX and USAID also build supportive partnerships so that youth have better access to educational and leadership opportunities that respond to their aspirations. Through the YDRC structure, IREX, USAID and partners have introduced a Positive Youth Development and Service Learning approach that will lead to developing and implementing a national youth engagement and participation strategy.

Expected Results

    • A network of 11 well-established, equipped and sustainable YDRCs that offer innovative programs and services for youth operating throughout the West Bank.
    • Engagement of at least 40,000 youth in learning and development activities offered throughout the West Bank through YDRCs and youth networks.
    • Increased capacity of youth-serving institutions at the national and district-levels.
