SUCCESS Alliance

A public-private cocoa alliance that works to fight poverty in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

SUCCESS Alliance

Recognizing the importance of the cocoa crop to smallholder farmers and the cocoa industry’s need for diversified cocoa sources, the Sustainable Cocoa Enterprise Solutions for Smallholders (SUCCESS) Alliance was founded in 2000 to addresses constraints to sustainable cocoa production and marketing and increase the competitiveness of the cocoa sector. The mission of the SUCCESS Alliance is to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers by promoting cocoa production and marketing in a way that is economically, environmentally, socially and culturally sustainable.

The SUCCESS Alliance receives and has received funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), private sector partners and local governments. With this funding, ACDI/VOCA and its partners have implemented SUCCESS Alliance projects with a broad range of cocoa sector actors in Ecuador, Indonesia, Liberia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. ACDI/VOCA has additional projects with cocoa components in Bolivia, Ghana, Jamaica and Sierra Leone.
