Aiming to promote the development of the Indonesian cocoa value chain, the Sustainable Cocoa Production Program (SCPP) is a public-private partnership comprising Swisscontact, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and private cocoa sector companies, including Armajaro, ADM Cocoa (SERAP), Cargill (SULA), Mars and Nestlé (Nestlé Cocoa Plan). It aims to improve the productivity and quality of cocoa production of 60,000 cocoa farmers, of which 20% women, in six provinces in Indonesia, including Aceh, West Sumatra, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and South East Sulawesi. The program duration is 4 years and will end in 2015.
By using a holistic and successfully tested approach, SCPP helps to provide a foundation for the long-term sustainability of cocoa production in Indonesia. This approach incorporates:
