UNCDF MicroLead

Increase access to and usage of financial services, particularly deposit services, by rural customers via market research, product development, channel development, product marketing and financial education.

UNCDF MicroLead

The MicroLead Africa Expansion project builds on UNCDF’s experience and lessons learned from the current program. It has financially prioritized underserved markets in Africa where there is significant demand and opportunity to create impact. In this new phase, experienced institutions or networks from developed and developing countries may apply to either establish greenfields or provide technical assistance which results in significant impact, particularly in the number of small-balance savers reached. It will deploy the same competitive process and performance-based agreements. The Foundation will also add a learning agenda to enable UNCDF to test if a savings-led approach creates stronger and more resilient financial service providers.
