Vale: Global Fund Partner Supports Malaria Programs in Mozambique and Malawi

Vale is supporting efforts to fight Malaria in Malawi and Mozambique by partnering with the Global Fund and committing US$3 million.

Vale and the Global Fund

Vale, a large metals and mining company, is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities in which it operates. At the end of last year, Vale committed US$3 million to the Global Fund for the period 2013-2015 to help support programs in Mozambique and Malawi. The company has already contributed US$1 million in 2013.

In Africa, the control of malaria is a major public health challenge. Vale, which is present in the continent, is committed to contribute to the fight against the disease. Vale maintains social programs centered on development that sustain the regions where it operates, guided at all times by a profound respect for local values and customs. Over the last three years, Vale invested US$ 1.2 billion in social projects. These community programs focus on education, healthcare, culture, infrastructure and promotion of citizenship.
