Administration Expert specialized in industrial areas
GOPA Consultants is looking for a short term expert with working experiences in the context of the planning and construction management of industrial parks. The short term expert is needed for a few weeks duration and will support project activities within the GIZ funded project:
“Climate Change Adaptation in Industrial Areas”.
The expert should have gained experiences in the planning / management of industrial parks.
The project “Climate Change Adaptation in Industrial Areas” is funded by GIZ. Thelead executing agency is the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. GOPA Consultants, a German consulting company with many years of experience in the management of international cooperation projects, is applying to be awarded a contract to implement the project. The project will start in January 2015 and lasts for 4 years. The project office will be in Hyderabad.
Project Background. Climate change, particularly water scarcity and floods, are already posing challenges to industrial development in India. Given that extreme climate events are expected to become more frequent, and that the consequences of climate change are ignored in industrial planning, India must reckon with a dramatic increase in loss and damage in the industrial sector.
Project objective:
Key decision-makers and planning authorities are able to plan and design existing and new industrial areas to be more climate-resilient. To achieve the objective, planners and developers of industrial areas, as well as site supervisors will be trained to integrate climate risks systematically into planning and decision-making processes by using methodological guidelines. Decision-makers will be sensitised, plans for climate-sensitive industrial area development will be drawn up, and the subject will be institutionalised among private sector actors and in state institutions. It will then be possible to select sites for industrial development that are less at risk from climate change, the existing industrial areas will be retrofitted accordingly, and the actors in vulnerable industrial areas can be prepared in the event of disaster.
The expert will need to fulfil the following qualification requirements.
General qualification
- University degree and 15 years working experience
- Experience in holding trainings in administrationofindustrial areas
- Senior technical expert (including leadership)
Specific qualification
- at least 8 years of specific professional experience in administration of industrial areas - all gained in India. The working experience must clearly be related to industrial area planning and management and be related to the following:
- industrial environmental protection
- industry area training and management
- climate change adaptation
- disaster risk reduction
Language skills
English / Hindi / Telugu
Comprehensive TORs - length and specific tasks of the missions - will be specified after project start.
