Increased Demand and Engagement for Accountability (IDEA),

Vavuniya, Sri Lanka

Project Summary:

The Increased Demand and Engagement for Accountability (IDEA) Activity aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s civil society sector, with an emphasis on working in all regions of Sri Lanka and supporting civil society organization (CSO) participation in national and local governance processes. IDEA is a four-and-a-half-year (4.5) project ending on August 7, 2022.

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative tasks of the IDEA Project in Vavuniya. The candidate will report to the Regional Manager – based in Vavuniya. This is a short term technical assistance position set for approximately five months.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the reception desk, receive office visitors, mail and other deliveries

  • Manage all Vavuniya office communications

  • Keep accurate records and filing

  • Provide logistical and procurement support

  • Maintain petty cash and distribute effectively

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any other relevant field required

  • A minimum of two years of experience supporting senior staff, experience working as an administrative assistant, secretary or technical support for a public organization, NGO or international organization

  • Prior experience working with USAID-funded projects preferred

  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

  • Fluency in English and one national language (Sinhal and/or Tamil) required, proficiency in a second or third national language preferred
