Job Description

Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture needs your expertise for the development of new value chains. The Ministry has developed a strategy for the expansion of the agricultural sector and is now responsible for implementing this strategy. The objective is to significantly increase agricultural production of – in particular – cassava, rice and fruits and to promote the mechanisation required for this. The Ministry works with newly created innovation centres to promote the employment and income situation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agricultural sector. Through local processing and marketing, the aim is to facilitate access to local and, in the longer term, international sales markets.

Your tasks will involve:
  • Supporting the implementation of the agricultural strategy and, in particular, the institutionalisation of the value chain approach
  • Carrying out research and development to promote new value chains
  • Supporting the preparation of tenders and purchasing agricultural equipment
  • Developing and implementing training measures for trainers
Your profile:
  • University-level degree in agricultural sciences or economics or another subject that meets the requirements of the position
  • Extensive experience in working in the agricultural sector, preferably in this region
  • Several years’ experience working with agricultural value chains
  • Good knowledge of agricultural technology
  • Fluent business English
  • In addition you have the citizenship of an EU member state, UK passport holders are eligible to apply
