Work Location

  • Kathmandu, Nepal

Expected Duration

  • 1 November 2025 – 30 April 2026

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Manage the Head’s calendar, schedule meetings, and handle correspondence.
  • Coordination: Facilitate communication between the Resident Coordinator’s Office, other UN departments, agencies, and external partners.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research, prepare reports, and provide insights on key issues and initiatives.
  • Event Management: Organize and coordinate events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review documents, presentations, briefing materials, and meeting minutes.
  • Speech and Talking Points Preparation: Draft speeches, talking points, and other communication materials for the Head.
  • Project Management: Assist in planning and executing special projects and initiatives.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Enrolled in, or completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • No prior work experience is required.
  • Training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Nepal may require the appropriate visa and work authorization.
  • Successful candidates should clarify visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
