Job Title/Grade: Associate Global Practice Specialist/Global Practice Specialist I/II (7-9)

Reports to : Director, ICT and Digital

Department: Global Health/Information Communications Technology (ICT)/Digital

Function of the Position:

This is a full-time professional position within the Global Health Business Unit. The position will be based in Washington DC with overseas travel up to 40% time. Reporting to the Director, ICT and Digital, the Global Practice Specialist will be responsible for conducting field-based applied research, writing new business efforts, delivering project and activity management and implementation services and contributing to design of global health and digital activities for DAI projects. S/He will also conduct initial outreach to DAI internal and external clients. The incumbent will work with home office and field based teams.

The person in this role will be a key member of the Global Heath team, working across DAI’s technical sectors as needed. Specific responsibilities include providing support to the Global Health Business Unit, contributing and leading new business efforts, and providing short term technical assistance to field and DC based programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

General responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify, research, contribute to the design, and implementation of development solutions that support the team, DAI’s field projects and reflect DAI’s strategic objectives
  • Work with home office and field staff to support activities in areas including health information systems, human-centered design, monitoring and evaluation, field-based applied research and intelligence gathering, training and capacity building
  • Conduct client outreach to multiple current and potential clients such as CDC, USAID, World Bank, MCC, and foundations in US and international locations
  • Support business acquisition by managing and writing small and medium proposal efforts across a range of clients,
  • Identify and work with partners and subcontractors as needed
  • Monitor industry trends in digital health and other digital innovations, to inform client services and tools
  • Perform other responsibilities related to the Global Health team as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 7: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s; or 2 years of relevant experience and a Master’s
  • Grade 8: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s; or 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s
  • Grade 9: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s; or 5 years of relevant experience and a Master’s
  • Excellent communications skills – particularly in writing and relationship building
  • Knowledge of health and/or digital solutions for emerging markets
  • Experience conducting design thinking, user centered applied research and/or human-centered design and other related activities in field settings
  • Comfortable independently managing research processes, logistics and/or relationships in fast-moving field environments
  • Relevant experience working internationally
  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative and accomplish work with minimal supervision
  • Able to travel internationally up to 40% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic language
  • Experience working with CDC, USAID, and/or World Bank
  • Experience with gathering user requirements, developing project plans and budgets, and writing digital related reports and marketing materials
  • Knowledge of USAID projects and technical assistance contracting procedures
  • General experience with project design and implementation across a range of sectors (natural resources, health, governance, agriculture, economic growth, M&E, etc.)
