Job Description

DAI is looking for an Associate Project Manager, to work as part of their busy Know How Lab Team (technical assistance and knowledge management). The position will be based within DAI Europe; located to spacious, bespoke offices in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, adjacent to fast rail links to London and southeast England.

Our portfolio of 200 projects in 100 countries crosses multiple disciplines. Our clients include the UK Department for International Development, USAID, the European Commission, EBRD, the World Bank, other donors and international lending institutions, and private corporations and philanthropies.

Responding to the needs of our growing business, we are seeking a graduate or candidate with equivalent experience to join our team. We are recruiting an Associate Project Manager for our busy Know How Lab team. The role will involve working closely with colleagues to deliver high quality technical assistance and knowledge services to both external clients and colleagues within DAI. You will be part of a unit managing rapid response projects, developing and piloting innovative services, and actively promoting communication and learning across our global organisation.

We would particularly like to hear from you if your interest and focus is in fragile and conflict affected states, humanitarian response or health. We are also looking for a strong administrative and good team-working skills along with an ability to meet tight deadlines and excellent written English.

For the role the successful candidate will have:

  • as a minimum, an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in international development or relevant subject; preferably with a focus on economic development or health;
  • demonstrable ability to write technical text;
  • strong organisational skills;
  • excellent interpersonal skills – able to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally;
  • good numeracy skills with high level of attention to detail;
  • an understanding of project management;
  • a proven ability to multi-task under pressure

Experience supporting consulting services or international development projects, especially with DFID or other UK government departments, or experience of working overseas, ideally in a development environment, would be an advantage.

Salary offered circa £24,000, commensurate with relevant experience. A generous benefits package includes company pension, private health scheme, cycle to work scheme and contribution to gym membership (after a qualifying period).
