TSSP commenced in July 2007 and continues the Australian Government's long term commitment to the transport infrastructure sector in Papua New Guinea (roads, airports and ports). The Program operates under GoPNG leadership; policies, strategies, plans and systems. Under TSSP assistance is provided to strengthen the capacity of transport sub-sector agencies and in supporting the development of a sector wide approach. TSSP is seeking a suitably skilled and qualified adviser to join the dynamic team in PNG and provide expert assistance to the Department of Works.
As the Bridge Design Engineer Adviser you will provide assistance to the Assistant Secretary (Roads & Bridges) and the staff of the Bridge Design section to further strengthen their skills in Bridge Design services.
To be considered for this role you will need to have at least 10 years experience in a supervisory or management role and equivalent level of experience with bridge design, exceptional technical skills and familiarity with design standards and relevant legislation including the Australian Bridge Design Code AUSTROADS 1992, high level interpersonal and communication skills as well as commitment to and experience applying principles relating to good governance and capacity building. Experience with overarching policy areas that include gender, HIV and AIDS, the environment/global change and/or road safety will be an advantage.
