Abt Associates, a major American research, technical assistance, and international development company, seeks highly qualified technical specialists in the fields below for the anticipated USAID-funded Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) Project. The project will assist the government of Egypt to undertake economic reforms, and will assist SMEs to build their capacity to take full advantage of new trade opportunities created by those reforms. The project aims to improve bilateral trade flows with trading partners, increase trade and export earnings, and attract business and investment to Egypt.

University degree; USAID or other donor experience; Egypt experience; excellent oral and written communication skills in English; minimum of eight years of professional experience in one or more of the technical areas outlined below.
SME Capacity Development Lead - Demonstrated technical experience and leadership qualifications in increasing sales and reaching new markets for new and expanding export-ready enterprises (NEEREs). Experience developing export capacity of NEEREs, including developing strategies for integration into global value chains, and improving production systems to meet international product standards and demands.
Trade Service Institutions Capacity Development Lead – Demonstrated technical experience and leadership qualifications in developing strategies and assisting government entities and private sector institutions in providing trade support services to assist SMEs compete in the international marketplace (e.g., access to international markets information, market studies, business-to-business (B2B), online trainings, e-marketing, trade shows, packaging and design consultation, trade finance, and linking SMEs to lead companies in international value chains).
Trade and Investment Policy Promotion Lead – Demonstrated technical experience and leadership qualifications in identifying and working with counterparts and stakeholders to reduce and remove policy and regulatory constraints that hinder exports of NEEREs. Familiarity with streamlining import and export regulations; trade facilitation; conformity assessments procedures; developing standards (particularly those related to food safety); risk management, customs law, or other tariff and non-tariff barriers; and implementation of trade agreements.
Gender in Trade – demonstrated experience in mainstreaming gender in development programs, especially related to trade development,; maximizing women’s economic empowerment and decision-making; access to productive resources; working with underserved communities outside Egypt’s main trade hubs; working with women-owned or women-led enterprises; and increasing household incomes.
