Job Description

  • Expand QED’s portfolio with CDC by winning new business with CDC
  • Lead the development of proposals including ITTOPS-3 RFTOPs
  • Build and maintain relationships with CDC technical staff and related organizations
  • Raise QED’s profile within CDC and with other related partners
  • Identify suitable partners, consultants etc. for proposals, teaming, partnering, etc.
  • Actively manage the CDC BD pipeline
  • Serve as a contributing writer, lead writer, or technical integrator on proposal teams; providing strategic recruitment; and training/mentoring staff; s/he will support multiple, simultaneous new business efforts at different stages of the bid life cycle
  • Contribute to management/coordination of new business efforts: pipeline management, resource allocation, strategic planning, quality control and oversight of proposals
  • Actively market QED service offerings to address the ongoing questions and needs of CDC
  • Prospect for new projects and decision makers using tools such as Hoovers, networking events, social media, and online sources
  • Utilize proven sales techniques to qualify leads, identify decision-makers, assess prospect needs, and identify pain points
  • Clearly communicate QED service offering messaging, differentiation, and value proposition in proposals and outreach
  • Collaborate with QED Business Development and Communications team on marketing, public relations, and business development needs
  • Contribute to and support strategy for Global Health
  • Coordinate actively with Practice Area Directors
  • Responsible for representing QED among CDC
  • Identify strategic hires for opportunities in the region

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15 to 18 years’ field experience in working with CDC and other health organizations or donors
  • Demonstrated track record in winning work with CDC
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with US, EC, UN, and other public and private donors, government grant and financial management requirements
  • Successful and proven negotiation, communication, organization, and prioritization skills and experience
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or PhD in Public Health, Health Policy, Global Health, or equivalent in international development, political or social science management or other relevant field
  • Prior leadership or management experience
  • Experience working in a global setting or overseas on field programs
  • Experience in international development or consulting industry

The CDC Business Development Specialist leads business development efforts with CDC. Building on QED’s track record in working with CDC, he/she will be responsible for winning new business with CDC and building QED’s portfolio. Key responsibilities include maintaining/building close relationships with CDC, identifying and building partner relationships, lead the development of proposals with CDC, and manage the business development pipeline with CDC. S/he will play an active role in expanding QED’s presence in Atlanta, Georgia and will actively coordinate with the QED team based in Arlington, Virginia. The CDC Business Development Specialist will serve as a point of contact, managing the CDC relationship and taking a lead to develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external constituents such as donors, private partners, foundations, and local governments to expand QED’s business with CDC funding. This position is responsible for sales/business development targets.
