Job Description

Are you committed to helping older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty?

HelpAge International is the leading NGO working on ageing and development. We are a progressive and dynamic organisation that is having a transformational impact on the lives of disadvantaged older people throughout the world. The contribution that older people make to society is invaluable, yet some remain the poorest and most neglected groups of people in the world.

We are currently seeking to appoint an inspiring Chief Executive to drive the delivery of HelpAge International’s ambitious new vision. As ageing starts to take a more central place on the global development and humanitarian agenda, we are transitioning from our history as a UK-based NGO to a future where we will focus increasingly on working through a network of age-focused organisations across the globe to achieve our vision. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to shape our further evolution and help us have a clear purpose and forward looking agenda. You will strategically develop the global network approach and harness the expertise and reach of this network to shape the ageing agenda for the 21st century.

The ideal candidate will be a creative, charismatic and engaging individual, who can demonstrate a deep understanding of international development as well as a genuine passion for, and commitment to, the aims and values of HelpAge International. You will have strong visionary and strategic skills, exceptional personal credibility, a strong track record of operational and change management as well as the ability to influence at all levels both internally and externally. Your management experience should clearly demonstrate your ability to lead an organisation undergoing transformation. You will represent the organisation at global forums and develop strategic working relationships with other international organisations that help to position HelpAge International’s work on the world stage. You will drive the public debate on ageing with an energy that mirrors the commitment of HelpAge’s network members and other partners.

If you have the senior-level experience and appetite to make our future a success, you can apply or download further information on the required qualifications, skills and experience for the role at quoting reference 2877.

The closing date for applications is 9am GMT Tuesday 31st January, 2017.

The role is based in London and the salary is competitive depending on experience.

HelpAge International is an equal opportunities employer.
