Job Description

IBI is currently looking for qualified Chief of Party (CoP) candidates for an upcoming USAID-funded project in Nepal. The project will be responsible for supporting the USAID/Nepal mission’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities for all of its programs.

Employment Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

Functional Responsibilities:

  • He/ She will provide the vision and overall leadership to the team;
  • He/ She will manage the Contractor’s technical assistance, training, and overall support;
  • He/ She will oversee the evaluation and assessment reports and services produced;
  • He/ She will coordinate USAID assistance with key counterparts. The COP will be responsible for overall Activity management and technical operations to ensure that the Activity tasks are completed and the objectives of the Activity are successfully met.
  • The COP will lead the Contractor’s team and serve as the primary point of contact with USAID with regard to day-to-day activity implementation and management matters relating to the contract.
  • The COP will have overall responsibility for ensuring that all work provided under the contract, whether by international or local personnel, is technically sound and appropriate for the requirements of the contract; and for adequately managing and supervising the work of all personnel provided.
  • The COP will manage the preparation and presentation of proposed implementation plans and all reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in social sciences or related field with at least eight (8) years of progressive experience in project management of development programs; or a Bachelor’s degree in a similar field with at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in project management;
  • At least seven years of experience working in project management in developing countries;
  • At least five years of experience related to research, evaluation, statistics and/or monitoring projects related to development;
  • Must be fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in the natural or social sciences with an emphasis or focus on quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Previous experience working in Nepal or in South Asia.
  • Background in working with USAID or on USAID projects including having knowledge of USAID M&E practices, and management compliance rules and regulations
  • Fluent in both English and Nepali
