PATH is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Chief of Party (COP) for the upcoming Uganda Integrated Community Agriculture and Nutrition (ICAN) program funded by USAID. The COP should have significant leadership, management, and international development experience; a demonstrated track record in successfully managing integrated programs as well as government and private-sector relations; and a commitment to real capacity-building. This will be a contract position pending award from USAID.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of the Uganda ICAN program.
  • Lead and provide expertise in developing and executing sustainable, integrated practices.
  • Facilitate dialogue with all levels of government, including working at the district and community level.
  • Ensure the effective use and coordination of USAID resources and the compliance of the financial systems and controls with USAID standards
  • Lead internal and external program planning and reporting, including annual work planning with sub recipients.
  • Develop and manage a team that includes members of diverse backgrounds in order to successfully co-create and implement a sustainable integrated design.
  • Ensure sound financial management including programmatic budgeting, spending projections, and monitoring of payments.
  • Serve as the primary representative of the project to USAID.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree international development, livestock, agriculture, economics, or related field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Ten (10) years or more progressively responsible international work experience implementing multisector development programs with demonstrated strong management and coordinating skills.
  • At least five years of management experience including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multi-faceted international development programs.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written), analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills
  • Demonstrated skills in effectively working with government counterparts in the cooperating country, USG donors, and other key stakeholders and partners.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Must have legal authorization to work in Uganda.
