Job Description:

• Overall management and direction of the CDM Smith team and sub-consultants.
• Ensuring that the team is working, exclusively, within contractual boundaries of its Contract with USAID – especially budget limitations.
• Ensuring that the team pro-actively manages the overall schedule (constrained within the project time frame).
• Regular and accurate (progress and financial) reporting to USAID, CDM Smith and local stakeholders.
• Effective cooperation, coordination, collaboration and communication with USAID, as well as other local government officials, private entities, non-governmental organizations, other donors, and community-based groups as required by the Contract with USAID—including, with the support and engagement of other project staff—coordination of disaster management activities with municipal level agencies and organizations (related to Component 2).
• With support and engagement of other project staff, oversight of the capacity building of local governments, community organizations, and NGOs in land use planning, preparedness, and disaster risk assessments.

Amount of Travel:

• Based in Nepal; periodic/regular local travel throughout country.

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, disaster management or a related field from an accredited university.
• At least 15 years professional experience, with at least 5 years of Project Management experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience on disaster risk management projects, ideally including work in developing countries.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Experience on international donor-funded projects – including USAID.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Prior experience in Nepal and the South Asia region.
