Job Description

Work Location

  • Part-time, full-time, in-person, hybrid, or remote

Expected Duration

  • Three months, starting 12 January 2026

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Chinese language teachers in the Language Training Programme (LTP), Centre for Learning and Multilingualism (CLM), Human Resources Management Service, UNOG.
  • Assist in designing and developing multimedia content such as videos, audio, graphics, and images.
  • Develop and update learning materials, resources, and online activities using the CLM Language Learning Platform (Moodle LMS).
  • Contribute to other ongoing projects within the programme.
  • Report directly to the Chinese language teachers.

Background

  • The LTP promotes linguistic balance and multilingualism within the UN Secretariat and improves staff language abilities, as mandated by General Assembly resolutions 2480 B (XXIII), 43/224D, and 50/11.
  • Offers language courses in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish to UN staff, diplomats, and country mission staff.

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • Applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Enrolled in, or completed, the final year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Field of study closely related to the internship is required.
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is desirable.
  • Experience with design tools (Canva, Genially, Rise 360, etc.) is desirable.

Languages

  • Fluency in Chinese is required.
  • Fluency in English is desirable.
  • Mastery of another UN official language (Arabic, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN.
  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship takes place may require appropriate visas and work/employment authorization.
  • Successful candidates should discuss visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
