Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Director, the Communication Specialist will develop and use communications strategies to influence behavioral and social change to support the projects efforts of improving labor rights for vulnerable women and girls within the agricultural sector. S/he will be responsible for developing tools and materials to execute outreach and knowledge sharing activities, including sharing project learning and outcomes, and impact to external audiences, partner agencies and donors.

Key Responsibilities

The Communication Specialist’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies using behavioral and social-change communication.
  • Lead and oversee all outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with government and private sector actors to economically empower women and adolescent girls.
  • Develop external communications messaging and marketing collateral and execute external communications strategy targeting relevant networks.

Basic Requirements

  • Minimum a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of relevant professional experience in communications work
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated track record engaging with senior leaders.
  • Ability to develop communications strategies using behavioral and social-change communication, including audience segmentation and social mobilization; through a variety of means, such as traditional, digital, and social media, and/or storytelling.
  • Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English is preferred.
  • Applicant must be national/local - must devote a minimum of 50 percent of time to project activities to achieve expected outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in writing for media and internet.
  • Experience with online content management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other tools for Web and graphic design.
  • Knowledgeable of adolescent girls and women’s economic empowerment, gender mainstreaming and labor issues is preferred.
