Communications and Public Diplomacy Specialist

The Economic Governance and Inclusive Growth (EGIG) Partnership is a key pillar of the PNG – Australia Governance Partnership. Under the strategic direction and oversight of the Governments of PNG and Australia, the EGIG Partnership is responsible for the design and implementation of initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth through macroeconomic stability and strengthened fiscal management. Through bringing a range of economic governance and inclusive growth investments under one umbrella, the Partnership enables greater coherence between, and consolidation of, individual activities, effective gender mainstreaming, smarter administrative, contracting and management processes, and improved knowledge sharing across the governance portfolio.
The Communications and Public Diplomacy Specialist will work in a dynamic environment to support a range of stakeholders to develop and implement communications products. This position will primarily support the Economic Governance and Inclusive Growth Partnership to develop and implement successful communication strategies for engaging with Partnership stakeholders and clients. This position will also work with Partnership stakeholders to develop and implement their own communication strategies to support the achievement of their own communication goals.
With a multi-agency focus, the successful applicant must be able to adapt to the requirements of a range of different clients, work effectively with a range of different stakeholders and be able to lead on a range of different communications initiatives, from the development of communications strategies through to the delivery of time-sensitive communications products including press releases, speeches and online content.
The successful candidate will bring:
- A minimum of five (5) years professional experience in communications, public relations or a similar field;
- Demonstrated experience in; i) developing communication strategies, ii) speech writing, iii) developing written communication products including press releases and briefing notes, iv) preparing publications (layout and design), v) producing high-quality promotional material;
- High-level written and verbal communication skills in English (written and verbal communication skills in Tok Pisin desirable);
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, marketing, public diplomacy, public relations, media or a similar field.
