The Communications Officer supports the design and implementation of the Communications strategy as well as the implementation of the CGIAR System Organization’s Funder and External Engagement Strategy, working under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Manager, Communications to promote the visibility of the Organization’s profile and brand. This position works closely with different teams to design and disseminate internal and external communications that drive forward the priorities of the Funder and External Engagement Unit and influence the Organization’s capacity to establish and maintain strategic relationships.
The Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating communication, public and media engagements to deliver the following broad areas of responsibility:
- Communications Strategy: developing and implementing strategic and tactical communications plans, systems, processes, and tools that ensure significant growth in CGIAR’s international profile;
- Media Relations and Events: coordinating and leveraging use of CGIAR’s brand, profile, and presence;
- Communications materials: production and delivery of high-quality communications products.
In this context, this position requires a highly organized, creative, and experienced communications professional with strong project management and writing skills, and someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where multi-tasking and prioritizing between competing deliverables are the norm.

The selected candidate will be employed by the CGIAR System Organization. Appointments are typically for a fixed term of three years, with a possibility of renewal subject to the System Organization’s needs and funding.
