The consultant will conduct a three day workshop, (each workshop is for 2 days) in November, 2019 with Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity and 25 participants will attend each workshop. Though the attendees are from different industries and places, the purpose of meetings is the same. Attendees are expected to discuss common problems in their businesses and the obstacles they face. The workshops will go through possible solutions, solutions they can implement and expect that each meeting will produce a dozen or more practical, actionable plans to address these issues. Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity has a sub-grant facility and is interested in working with participants to implement programs which will effect the market systems where they operate. Through a competitive evaluation on the participants’ plans, some applicants may be be invited to refine their plan into a sub-grant application.
The three meetings to deliver are:
(A) In Cox’s Bazar for dry fish products (Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity’s Intermediate Results (IR) 3.2 and Zone of Resilience (ZOR))
Dry fish products as source of nutrition and income are important in Feed The Future’s ZOR. Last year’s consideration of a value chain study has led to a plan for a co-creation planning forum in Cox’s Bazar to focus on value chain improvement, prospects for contract farming, solar driers, and food safety options (DDT concerns) and also include increased consumption of dry/processed fish for improved nutrition.
Attendees: boatman, driers, ice makers, and buyers.
(B) In Dhaka for ready to eat fish products (IR 3.2)
Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity will use key informant interviews to identify specific obstacles to greater market penetration in the Zone of Influence (ZOI) with a focus on nutritious RTE fish and also convene a co-creation meeting to identify solutions to the identified market obstacles.
Attendees: food product companies, retailers, wholesalers.
(C) In Dhaka for transportation issues (IR 1.1)
Transportation has been highlighted by many stakeholders as a major choke-point in the market system, Bangladesh Aquaculture and Nutrition Activity will convene the stakeholders in a co-creation workshop to identify viable solutions to specific obstacles.
Attendees: commercial fish farmers, market aggregates, wholesalers, retailer.
This consultancy contract is open to International Consultant with the following skills and qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of related experience is required.
- Experience in Facilitation of Co-creation Workshops.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English are required.
Availability of Experts
Experts must be available throughout the duration of an assignment. The duration can range from weeks to months. In some cases the assignment can be shortened or extended depending on business needs. Experts maybe required to travel to countries where we work.
Location and Duration
This is open for international consultant only and will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with extensive field visit. The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience, and the most competitive proposal.
The interviews are expected to be held in September 2019 and only shortlisted consultant will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful consultant should be available to commence for maximum of eighteen (18) days in October to November 2019.
