The Center for People and Forests - RECOFTC holds a unique and important place in the world of forestry. It is the only international not‐for‐profit organization that specializes in capacity development for community forestry and devolved forest management whilst taking a landscape approach to natural resource management. The Center engages in strategic networks and effective partnerships with governments, nongovernment organizations, civil society, the private sector, local people, and research and educational institutes throughout the Asia‐Pacific region and beyond. With over 30 years of international experience and a dynamic approach to capacity development—involving research, analysis and synthesis; strategic communication; training and learning networks; and piloting and demonstrating— The Center delivers innovative solutions for people and forests.

To address the needs and challenges of the Asia‐Pacific region, the Center for People and Forests - RECOFTC has developed an innovative new strategy (2018-2023) to help local people find solutions together with government, the private sector, development partners, local institutes, academia, media and others. Building on its previous strategic phases, the 2018–2023 Strategic Plan puts people at the center of change, by empowering communities, governments and the private sector with rights, opportunities for dialogue, networking, technical expertise, tools and knowledge. The Center’s results will help nearly 5 million people in and near forest landscapes live more equitably, with dignity and greater empowerment to protect themselves from the injustices of poverty and environmental degradation.

The Center is currently seeking a qualified candidate to work as the Content Coordinator to be part of an integrated communication and knowledge management team. The successful applicant will be based at the regional office in Bangkok, Thailand. The contract duration is for 24 months with a possibility of extension subject to the satisfactory performance and funding availability. The position requires frequent travelling.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Knowledge Management and Strategic Communication (KMSC) unit, the Content Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing and implementing overall content strategy for the Center. In this role, the incumbent will oversee production of content for the Center’s marketing, communication and knowledge through digital and traditional channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Content Coordinator will be mainly responsible for:

  • Plan, develop and implement overall content strategy for organization
  • Establish editorial and content development systems, including pipeline, workflow, standards and metrics
  • Working across the communication and knowledge team, regional experts, country teams and with partners to create a unified content strategy and calendar plan
  • Generate foundational, innovation and knowledge content to establish the brand strengthen engagement, support marketing and resource mobilization, facilitate knowledge transfer and learning, and ultimately shape our story
  • Write, edit and proofread
  • Monitor and ensure quality control
  • Evaluate outcomes, narrative uptake and impacts
  • Establish and manage external suppliers of editorial and translation services
  • Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by the KMSC Director

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The Content Coordinator will have the following essential qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in communication, journalism or related fields with a minimum of 10 years’ work experience of progressively responsible experience in content creation and editorial processes
  • Outstanding writer of foundational content, marketing content, stories, briefing notes, speaking notes, brochures, web content, training materials, publications, social media and other forms of content
  • Strong ability to repurpose content for various channels
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaboration, managing trusted stakeholder relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with fast-changing priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English

Desirable:

  • Previous work experience in international organizations in the Asia-Pacific region is strongly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate in one or more languages of the Center’s focal countries (China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam) is an asset
  • Knowledge of forestry, natural resources management, international development, gender equity and other themes related to the Centre’s mission
  • Knowledge of content development and management systems
