Job Description

The Content Writer will play an instrumental role in developing speeches and other content for the CEO as well as members of the Coordination team. In this new role the Content Writer will be responsible for such items as drafting full length speeches, brief remarks, talking points, op-eds, blog posts, maintaining our organizational wide content library as well as presentations. Approx. 70% of this role’s time will support the content needs of the CEO and 30% for the broader organization and key senior staff. This role will report to the Director of Communications and dotted line to the manager of the Office of the President. In addition, the Content Writer will monitor relevant speeches, remarks and articles given by other leaders in our field and synthesize material that would be relevant to the CEO and the work of the organization. The Content Writer will share in the responsibility from time to time in researching and preparing briefing documents for key events, conferences and speaking opportunities, developing and updating presentation materials, and lead on other content-related special projects for the support of the organization.

This position is multi-faceted and will require equal time and dedication in the areas of speechwriting, presentation creation, content curation, research and briefing support as well as internal communications. Success in this role will be defined by the individual’s ability to think strategically and “connect the dots;” synthesize and distill complex information about Women Deliver’s work, insights and the broader sector landscape; craft a variety of clear and persuasive communications; deliver editorial excellence; collaborate effectively with key internal and external partners; capture the CEO’s voice; and remain highly organized and efficient in the midst of numerous assignments and a fast-paced environment.


Office of the President / CEO:

  • Research and develop content for our CEO’s speaking engagements and presentations, as well as other communication such as speeches, blogs, op-eds, remarks, talking points, correspondence, presentations and internal communications
  • Project manage briefing content, facts and figures including liaison with content experts internally and externally working closely with the OOP and Communications
  • Draft trip reports and briefing notes on behalf of the CEO
  • Draft organizational emails, memos, and notes on behalf of the CEO when required
  • Develop visual presentations working closely with our graphic designer

General Communications:

  • General talking points for staff on major events and announcements (i.e. UNGA, CSW, etc.)
  • Review and edit speeches, talking points and op/eds for other staff as needed
  • Curate library of relevant talking points and briefing materials on key subject matters for utilizing within the team and key members of the organization; develop systems for effective sharing of content
  • Review on a daily basis news and issues relevant to Women Deliver’s work and effectively translate and share
Qualifications, Skills, Education, and Knowledge:
  • Commitment to Women Deliver’s mission, purpose and values
  • BA/BS required
  • Minimum 4-6 years of related, progressively responsible work experience with emphasis in speechwriting and content development
  • Issue experience in public health, global health, gender or international development preferred
  • Prior experience in executive communications, speechwriting, messaging, content development and/or presentation development required
  • Exceptional listener and communicator –with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize many different ideas, connect the dots and craft rich content for a range of audiences – ability to distill complex information into accessible concepts
  • Must be highly organized, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically, ensuring both big-picture and smaller-scale assignments are performed with excellence; mindset of flawless execution in all assignments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Solutions-oriented approach with strong analytical/reasoning skill
  • Professional and friendly demeanor and strong customer service skills
  • Dependability, diplomacy, and a sense of humor are necessary
  • Flexibility to work overtime when needed
  • Must be able eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
