Job Description

Chemonics seeks a Cost Editor/ Publications Associate to work with our Editorial Support and Production Department. The successful candidate will be an individual with strong time management and copyediting skills who can handle high-demand work. This position works on cost proposals submitted to our clients (primarily USAID) and copyedits material for technical proposals, project reports, and web content. The cost editor component of the position entails collecting and completing many certifications and supporting documents, formatting spreadsheets, checking numbers in Excel against the numbers referenced in the budget narrative, and putting everything into a PDF as one document. The publications associate component entails assisting technical writer/editors by copyediting material and contributing to ESP’s web page. Often the cost editor/publications associate will work on multiple assignments at once, so being able to multitask, maintain a schedule, and communicate well with team members and colleagues is important. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Format and assemble cost proposals, ensure consistency with editor working on technical proposal, compile and complete all required forms and statements to comply with client requirements, and prepare cost files for submission to electronic archive
  • Serve as resource for cost preparers
  • Copyedit documents including cost notes, resumes, and sections of technical proposals and reports and Web material including job ads and ESP’s web page
  • Produce work products consistent with Chemonics’ and clients’ standards
  • Read and become familiar with submission requirements of requests for proposals and other tender documents
  • Develop skills to understand and better respond to the needs of new business units


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business Administration, or other relevant field required
  • Minimum two years of professional copyediting experience
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to multi-task and adjust quickly to changing priorities
  • Strong and exacting document quality control skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
