About the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance:
The Lab was developed in 2014 by the governments of Germany, the UK, and the U.S. and has grown to include several other climate finance donor governments, philanthropies, major development finance institutions and key private sector actors. The Lab identifies, develops, and stresses tests and helps launch innovative financial instruments in sectors key to a sustainable economy. In eight years, the Lab has launched 60+ instruments, collectively mobilizing over USD 4 billion, and are being implemented across the global south. For every USD 1 invested in the CPI to run the program, the Lab has catalyzed over USD 200 in direct climate investments in developing countries.
The Lab’s development process is well suited to support structuring financial structures that can address barriers in challenging sectors, including sustainable agriculture adaptation. CPI has a proven track record of providing technical assistance and market services, convening public and private sector investors, and managing innovative finance collaboratives.
