Responsibilities

InductiveHealth is recruiting a Deputy Technical Director for Health Information Systems for an upcoming five-year cooperative agreement funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) focused on delivery of innovative systems and technologies to support the Ministry of Health. Based in Lilongwe, Malawi, with frequent travel to program sites in the field, this position will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical expertise in the development, deployment, and operations of Health Information Systems for use across healthcare delivery sites, laboratories, and other points of care
  2. Provide technical expertise in standards-based data integration and interoperability across Health Information Systems
  3. People management of InductiveHealth field office staff
  4. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Ministry of Health, clinical care Implementing Partners, CDC Malawi Field Office, telecommunications and data providers, and civil society
  5. Identification and management of risk and issues from delivery of program based on Work Plan
  6. Management of subawardees supporting the program including oversight of their activities, identification of delivery challenges, and providing technical expertise on health information system delivery and operations
  7. Participate in and, where appropriate, establish new Technical Working Groups (TWGs)
  8. Assist in recruitment and onboarding of InductiveHealth field office staff
  9. This position will report to the Technical Director and will actively support the Principal Investigator.

Qualifications

The Deputy Technical Director (Health Information Systems) will be responsible for end to end delivery of in-country technical activities focused on enhancement and integration of Malawi Health Information Systems. This is a hands-on role that requires a high degree of technical aptitude, ability to balance the triple constraint to manage MoH and funders expectations, and experience in leading small teams through successful implementation. We are looking for someone who:

  1. Is comfortable with being uncomfortable and open to growing professionally and personally through coaching and feedback
  2. Has excellent communication and presentation skills
  3. Can effectively manage up and down on status, risks, and issues
  4. Has experience in successful deliver of technical projects from kick-off to operations
  5. Has experience in leading junior team members including task management and providing technical guidance and problem solving
  6. Has experience early in their career as a Developer building and enhancing information systems
  7. Has experience in working with the private sector to support ministries of health under PEPFAR
  8. Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
