Job Description

Join us to defend the sexual and reproductive health & rights of all people

Empowering the most vulnerable women, men and young people in over 170 countries to access life-saving services and programmes and to live with dignity, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and its 31,000 employees, along with millions of volunteers, campaign for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and deliver education and services through 27,860 service delivery points. The IPPF Secretariat comprises Central Office in London and six Regional Offices, working out of five locations. We are a diverse Federation and in 2016, we delivered 182.5 million sexual and reproductive health services.

Reporting to the Director General, the Director for External Relations is designed to oversee IPPF’s Strategic Relationships at the highest level with governments, major foundations and priority civil society partnerships. The Director will ensure a seamless approach to these interactions, positioning IPPF as a trusted and respected strategic partner and thus enabled to maximise opportunities to meet the goals of IPPF’s Strategic Framework. As a member of the Directors’ Leadership Team, the role will drive integrated strategy and operations across The Secretariat.

The role offers a unique challenge for an individual who is motivated by the mission of IPPF. You will be an effective strategist with a track record of raising organizational profiles with exceptional leadership and people management skills. You will have effective influencing and campaigning skills, with compelling evidence of having changed government, business and other significant decision-makers. You will have mobilised mass public audiences, and be able to communicate complex issues.
