Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA)

Kabul, Afghanistan

Project Summary:

The purpose of AMELA is to provide monitoring, evaluation, and learning support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical M&E knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.

Position Summary:

The driver will drive the AMELA soft skin vehicle to deliver persons and goods as required. S/he will also be responsible for the vehicles maintenance and safety, and for keeping the vehicle fueled and cleaned.

Estimated Level of Effort: Full time

NTA Scale: Grade E, Steps 1-5

Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for AMELA staff when required;

  • Drive in a safe and courteous manner observing speed limits and road rules;

  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in a safe and roadworthy condition;

  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle to ensure the vehicles cleanliness, safety, and condition;

  • Ensure that all passengers follow AMELA and USAID vehicle policy and procedures, including, but not limited to: seat belts on, doors locked, and windows up;

  • Maintain the vehicle logbook showing details of all trips taken;

  • Ensure maintenance of safe fuel and oil levels;

  • Check the vehicles radiator water level daily;

  • Ensure that the vehicle always has a fully stocked tool kit and first aid kit onboard;

  • Ensure that a spare tire, jack, and tire change equipment are always in good condition and onboard the vehicle;

  • Check the water level in the window washing dispenser daily;

  • Check the tire pressure on all 5 tires weekly;

  • Check the heating/air conditioning system weekly;

  • Clean the vehicle inside and out daily;

  • Help passengers to carry any items to and from the vehicle;

  • Additional relevant duties as prescribed by AMELA management.

Qualifications:

  • At least 6-years primary education, high school graduates preferred;

  • At least two years previous experience working with and international organization or NGO;

  • Pashto and Dari required, English desirable;

  • Good organizational skills and willingness to work;

  • Capable of working in multi-national/cultural environment;

  • Possession of a current Drivers License.
