Job Description

Job Responsibilities

The Government of Nepal requested financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to improve the East-West Highway (EWH) by addressing deterioration of road asset conditions, poor safety conditions and limited cross-border connectivity. The project involves preparation of feasibility studies and detailed engineering designs of three four-lane highways, major and minor bridges associated with the above roads, and road safety improvements. The scope involves performance of appropriate road condition surveys; engineering design, specifications, bill of quantities, cost estimates; economic analysis; and social and environmental assessment. The project work will also involve preparation of bidding documents for the improvement works.

With high-level goals provided, collects, compiles, and reviews data in support of economic, freight, and financial related tasks of basic to high complexity. Develops and updates basic to highly complex databases/ spreadsheets. Processes complex economic, freight, financial, statistic, and other related data. Assists in the development of economic impact modeling and economic/financial feasibility analyses. Develops report content and presentation materials for economic, freight, and financial task methodology and findings. Assists sales and technical staff with pursuits and the development of proposals in support of pursuits. Provides technical guidance and training to more Junior economists. Reviews data, materials, and activities of junior economists. Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements

The qualifications for the position are as follows:
–Bachelor’s Degree required and Master’s Degree preferred in Economics
–Minimum 20 years overall experience
–15 years in Transport Economics or a closely related field
–Experience in at least five projects related to roads/civil infrastructure
–Experience in multiple geographic regions; preference for developing country environments
–Fluency in English required.
