Institutional Strengthening Experts for El Salvador

In partnership with IBI, DAI is implementing the USAID/El Salvador Strengthening Local Organizations project in El Salvador. The project is working to strengthen the capacity and performance of civil society organizations (CSO) to apply locally designed, sustainable solutions to El Salvador’s problems of poverty, corruption, gang violence, and migration.

DAI seeks qualified short-term consultants in the following areas of expertise to provide technical assistance for anticipated activities under this project to strengthen local CSOs:

 Organizational development
 Accounting
 Advocacy
 Auditing
 Financial management
 Fundraising/resource mobilization
 Human resource management
 Information technology
 Institutional communication
 Strategic planning
 Training/capacity building


Experts will be called upon to support the project on an as-needed basis, with assignments likely lasting one to six weeks in length. All experts are expected to meet the following minimum requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and/or experience, required in a relevant field of study, such as Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Information Technology; advanced degree preferred
 Minimum of 10 years of experience in one or more of the listed areas of expertise, preferably including experience working for/with CSOs and/or non-profit organizations
 International consulting experience for donor-funded projects required; experience working on USAID-funded projects preferred
 Previous work in El Salvador or Central America strongly preferred
 Professional proficiency in verbal and written Spanish required; professional proficiency in verbal and written strongly preferred
