Job Description

The project consists of the design review and construction supervision of a 20MW PV solar power plant with Battery Storage and a 225kV 30km Transmission line in West Africa. The Environmental and Social Specialist (ESS) shall manage proper socio-environmental control on the project and shall work closely with the Client’s Environment and Social Impact Assessment Department.

Qualifications and skills

· M.Sc. Degree in Environmental Sciences or B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering.

· Up-to-date knowledge of how to address the socio-economic, resettlement, environmental and communication issues relating to the design and construction of PV Solar power plants and EHV lines and substations.

· Ability to work effectively in a team of international consultants and contractors through design review and construction activities.

· Sound judgment and ability to provide detailed technical, commercial, environmental and social evaluation.

· Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English and a high sense of organization and responsibility.

Professional experience

· A minimum of 10 years overall experience

· At least 5 years international experience working on the socio-economic impacts of IFI funded projects of the same nature, size and complexity as this assignment, ideally incorporating both EHV Transmission Lines and PV Solar plants.

· Experience of similar project in Sub Saharan Africa.
