At CARE, we seek a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and people live with dignity and security.
This has been our vision since 1945, when we were founded to send lifesaving CARE Packages® to survivors of World War II. Today, CARE is a global leader in the movement to eradicate poverty. In 2016, CARE worked in 94 countries and reached 80 million people with an incredible range of life-saving programs. We also put women and girls at the center of our work because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We seek dynamic, innovative thinkers to further our mission. If you share our core beliefs: poverty is an injustice; poverty is solvable; and together, we have the power to end it, join us.
The CARE Innovation Team was founded in 2016 to transform how the development and humanitarian aid sectors work and enable breakthrough leaders to achieve our global mission of social justice. This exciting position will fuel our organizational systems and operational capacities to ensure we are working as efficiently as we can, not a ball is dropped, and that our team works with awe-inspiring effectiveness. All is in service of our broader mission to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice globally. This position will report 50% to the Chief Innovation Officer(CIO) in leading the administrative, research and organizational functions of the office and 50% to the Executive Director of “The 22” (to be renamed).
The CARE Innovation team and “The 22” are truly global, working across all of CARE’s 93 Country Offices and working with philanthropists across the world. CARE is launching “The 22”, an exciting initiative to re-imagine philanthropy and its relation to social change by engaging women philanthropists in a new way. This initiative asks that philanthropists deeply engage in the program they support and join us in the co-design and co-innovation processes to develop truly innovative projects.
We seek a smart, detail-oriented coordinator who thrives by creating order in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and who wants to be a part of creating something unique and powerful in this world. We are looking for someone who enjoys the start-up mode and doing things in new ways, in an all-hands-on-deck environment but who can consistently and flawlessly schedule meetings, correspond with high net worth individuals and their assistants, and keep our administrative systems in stunning order.
The Executive Coordinator (EC) position is a critical role for our fast-moving team. The EC will be tasked with supporting the CIO in a range of ways, including but not limited to ensuring her calendar is up to date, she is briefed and ready for meetings and that all the moving pieces of the Innovation department are kept moving perfectly and at pace. This includes being a gatekeeper for new meeting requests, quarterbacking to team members and ensuring aligned approaches. Additionally, this role will coordinate submissions of multi-stakeholder reports and edits documents, ensuring they are ready to be scrutinized by board members and executives. Given the diffuse nature of the Innovation department and CARE more broadly, an ability to coordinate remotely – across time zones and geographies - is key.
The EC will also be tasked with supporting the Executive Director and the team to correspond and schedule meetings with potential candidates and members of “The 22”, high ranking Co-Chairs, CARE Country Offices, CARE Lead Members, and other external stakeholders. The EC will keep the team calendar, schedule meetings across multiple time zones and across cultures, ensure all reporting is prepared and submitted on time, and help plan and execute events and retreats. The Coordinator will liaise with the Major Gifts team and other CARE Lead members to maintain a prospect and member database on Salesforce. The EC will also liaise with the Innovation Team’s finance manager to ensure budgets are up to date.
If offered, we ask for a two-year commitment to this role to ensure seamless coordination during these critical years of start-up. Candidates should prioritize excellence – as our mission at CARE has never been more urgent and important, and the people we serve do not deserve anything less than our absolute best.
